Are You Staying True to Yourself?

I am going to be vulnerable for a quick minute here and say I am in the process of finding my true energetic blueprint or my true human design, my true self – mind, body and spirit so that I can be my true authentic self in all I do. Life has a way of changing our blueprint and making us into something other than what we should be or want to be. I think I began this journey in mid-2019 (though it wasn’t necessarily a conscious decision). I was in a situation that was so hostile to my true self that it was completely untenable, and I had to make a change.

Up until about mid-2019, I felt like I was where I was supposed to be, but at some point, I realized my spirit was broken. I had always thought of myself as a “strong” person, but instead I was bitter, burned out, frustrated and my health was suffering. I’m lucky that my family was a good thing in my life so I had an escape from my professional hell, and I was adept at keeping them separate. When I could no longer keep my work strife out of my family life, I knew I had to make a change.

I remember I was watching Return of the Jedi and the scene where Luke Skywalker surrenders himself to Darth Vader and he tells him that Vader was once Anakin Skywalker, his father and Vader says that name no longer has meaning for him. Luke says, “it is the name of your true self, you’ve only forgotten”.  That line kind of stuck with me at the time; I felt like I had forgotten myself.

So, what have I been doing over the past 3 ½ years? I changed jobs a couple of times and I have been fortunate enough to find my professional home, a place where I am truly trusted. I also joined the board of IE-PSHRA to find additional purpose in my career.  I started on and continue a personal wellness journey, through self-learning and engaging with a professional coach (because we all need a coach sometime and its ok to admit that). I’m also starting a program called the Inner MBA which will help me grow in mindfulness and self-awareness, so that I can inspire, lead, and coach others.

I encourage all of you to take stock of your own blueprint and see if you are straying true to your authentic selves. And it’s ok to admit you need a coach…..
