Professional Certification

Certification from the Public Sector HR Association is the recognized standard of excellence for public sector HR professionals. With our internationally recognized certifications, you can expand your knowledge base, accelerate your career and add significant credibility to your expertise. The name for these certifications remains as IPMA-CP and IPMA-SCP; rebranding of the certifications is underway.

IPMA-Certified Professional 

The IPMA-CP is intended for entry-level and mid-level public sector HR professionals. All public sector HR Professionals are eligible for this certification; there are no prerequisites. 

Three (3) steps to obtain your IPMA-CP:

1. Complete the Public Sector HR Essentials course.

2. Sit for and pass the examination, included with your course registration.

3. Receive your credentials.

IPMA-Senior Certified Professional

The IPMA-SCP is for senior-level public sector HR professionals.  Attain your IPMA-SCP:
 

1. Review and complete the certification application and pay your non-refundable application fee.

2. If your application is approved, you will receive instructions to pay for your exam fee and sit for the certification exam. 

3. Receive your certification credentials.

How Do I Retain My PSHRA Certification?

PSHRA recognizes all HR related professional development courses, conferences and webinars. Your local IE-PSHRA training qualifies for recertification as professional development. Points are totaled by the number of days and hours spent for the training as follows: 

  •  - Programs that are 6 hours or more per day = 3 points
  •  - Programs that are less than 6 hours per day = 1 point
  • To maintain your certification you must accumulate 50 recertification points every three (3) years, enter your completed development courses, conferences and webinars in your PSHRA recertification portal and pay your recertification fee, prior to your certification expiring. Earning points toward recertification can begin immediately after receiving your initial PSHRA certification. Points cannot be carried over for future recertification.
